BIO-key: BIO-key International, the Wall-based biometric identification company, has entered into an agreement with Experian Public Sector (Costa Mesa, Calif., and Schaumburg, Ill.) The company’s fingerprint-based technology will be sold along with Experian’s existing suite of identity-verification products.

Philippe de Raet, Experian vice president of business development, said, “By adding BIO-key’s … technology to our … suite of fraud solutions … Experian customers will be able to positively ID an enrolled individual during face-to-face encounters, online via the Internet or by mobile devices when speed or efficiency are paramount.”

CompuDance: CompuDance, a 25-year-old software company located in Dumont, held a users’ conference at its headquarters July 23, 2014. The company has a custom software package used by dance and gymnastics studios to manage logistics such as class schedules, registration and billing. Presentations were made by Maureen Strehl, president and founder, and Tanveer Ashraf, CTO. In addition to software training, the day included sessions on topics such as studio management, business growth through alternate revenue streams and human resources.

Single Touch: Single Touch Systems (Jersey City) has brought in a heavy hitter to lead its board of directors: Betsy Bernard, a former president of AT&T. Bernard’s board experience spans more than a decade and includes United Technologies (Hartford, Conn.), Principal Financial Group (Des Moines, Iowa), Serco Group (the U.K.), URS (San Francisco) and Zimmer Holdings (Warsaw, Ind.). As chair of the public company Telular (Chicago), she helped deliver a five-year total shareholder return of 350 percent before completing the sale of the firm to Avista Capital (New York) in June 2013.

Bernard chairs the nominating and governance committees at Principal Financial Group and is a member of its compensation committee. James Orsini, president and CEO of Single Touch, said of Bernard, “She brings a deep understanding of the mobile ecosystem, and her success in chairing boards of high-growth, technology-based companies will be immensely valuable as Single Touch continues to gain market share and drive innovation in the mobile advertising and messaging market.”

Single Touch also acquired DoubleVision Networks (New York), its technology partner. DoubleVision provides the real time bidding software that Single Touch uses in its FollowMe product to assess open mobile advertising inventory across supply side platforms. The technology allows the software to automatically purchase optimal advertising inventory.

Billtrust: Hamilton-based Billtrust, a technology-based billing services provider, said it had acquired cash application software development company Open Scan Technologies (Denver), continuing the company’s acquisition strategy.

The two companies had already been working together under an alliance announced late last year. The combined companies will represent the first end-to-end, invoice-to-cash infrastructure for B2B billers, dramatically increasing efficiency in the billing and payment ecosystem, Billtrust stated.

Flint Lane, founder and CEO of Billtrust, said, “From our inception, Billtrust has led the development of solutions that reduce the cost and complexity of presenting and paying bills electronically. As part of that commitment, we’re continually searching for technologies to improve the full invoice-to-cash process. Our acquisition of Open Scan, provider of the industry’s leading remittance processing platform, will help our clients complete the invoice-to-cash ‘round trip’ that culminates with the accurate, speedy application of cash.”

iCIMS:iCIMS (Matawan), a provider of software as a service (SaaS) talent-acquisition solutions for growing businesses, hosted New Jersey state Sen. Joseph Kyrillos on his tour of New Jersey businesses. iCIMS employs some 300 people across software development; sales; marketing; technology; and general, administrative and customer service at its headquarters. During the visit Kyrillos met with iCIMS executives and toured the organization’s recently expanded facilities.

In other company news, Michael Wilczak has joined the iCIMS leadership team as senior vice president of corporate development. Wilczak has experience implementing and executing business growth strategies for companies in the technology sector, according to a press release. He has additional experience growing and monetizing technology companies in the SaaS, cloud and IT infrastructure segments, stated the release. Wilczak was senior vice president of corporate development at Infocrossing (now part of Wipro data center services in Leonia), a provider of SaaS, business process outsourcing and infrastructure services.
