Without much fanfare, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is again launching its People to Business (P2B) event this spring.

The special program connects startups with highly qualified middle- and top-level professionals who are willing to volunteer to help the companies grow.

NJTechWeekly.com has covered this event and can attest that companies can really find the kind of help they need at the meetup — all participants are prescreened. For more on this, see our article, Tech Companies Meet Their Matches at NJIT Talent Network Event.

This year’s event will take place April 21, 2014, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Those who preregister will be notified of the location.

Program volunteers are available to help companies with marketing, accounting, sales, advertising, finance, IT and more. Companies can assign volunteers to tasks for a few hours, an entire week or more.

For startup companies: to participate in this event, you must register here before April 7. You will be asked about your company’s talent needs so they can be matched with appropriate professional volunteers. P2B recommends using Firefox or Chrome to access the registration form. A flyer describing the event is available at this Web location.

For the event to work, mid- to high-skill level individuals interested in advising or mentoring entrepreneurs are encouraged to contact the organizers to offer their services.

“This is a great opportunity for newly retired individuals, those interested in getting involved in entrepreneurship or some who would like to fill a gap in their resume,” noted Michel Bitritto, New Jersey Technology & Entrepreneurship Talent Network director.

Volunteers must apply and be accepted to participate in the event. “Skills must be submitted so we can introduce volunteers to organizations in need of their talents,” said Bitritto. “We will notify the volunteers whose skills and experience match with one or more of our participating companies. Only confirmed individuals will be able to attend.”

For potential volunteers: you can apply here to participate. NJIT recommends that you use Firefox or Chrome. A flier with more information is available here.

NJIT and the Technology and Entrepreneurship Talent Network  have organized this event, and The State of New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development is a supporter.
